AkzoNobel heeft serieuze belangstelling voor de coatingtak die chemiegigant BASF recent in de etalage zette, melden drie anonieme bronnen aan het FD<\/a>. De mogelijke overnameprijs ligt rond de \u20ac6 miljard. Grootste vraag: steunen aandeelhouders zo\u2019n forse stap?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

De coatingdivisie van BASF, wereldwijd toonaangevend in autolakken en metaalbehandelingen, zou uitstekend aansluiten bij AkzoNobel. De Nederlandse verfmaker levert nu vooral industri\u00eble lakken, maar ook poedercoatings en bekende merken als Flexa en Sikkens. CFO Maarten de Vries wilde bij de kwartaalcijfers geen inhoudelijke toelichting geven op de mogelijke deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AkzoNobel toont sinds kort weer overname-ambities, na jaren van reorganiseren en kleinere aankopen in Europa en Afrika. CEO Gr\u00e9goire Poux-Guillaume, met een achtergrond bij private equity, lijkt de jacht te willen openen. Tegelijk zoekt de raad van commissarissen naar een opvolger voor CFO De Vries, met als pr\u00e9 ervaring in fusies en overnames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De nieuwe strategie van AkzoNobel focust op kernmarkten waar het de nummer \u00e9\u00e9n of twee is. Niet-kernactiviteiten, zoals de verfactiviteiten in India, Pakistan en Sri Lanka, worden afgestoten. De opbrengst \u2013 mogelijk \u20ac1,3 miljard \u2013 zou deels kunnen worden ingezet voor een grote aankoop zoals BASF\u2019s coatingdivisie. Of het zover komt, is nog onzeker. De overnamesom is fors en aandeelhouders moeten instemmen. Bovendien zou een koop AkzoNobel verder richting industri\u00eble coatings sturen, een winstgevender maar ook conjunctuurgevoeliger markt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
